especially to all Malaysian!!
today, i would like to share a story about my friend's experience when she was having a tour in Korea for a week. actually, she was one of the participant who represented Sabah as the student exchange for cultural program in Korea. And this program was participate by students in different schools in Sabah, Malaysia. There are from membakut, papar, kk, and many more...
she told me what was happening while she was there. but, there's one thing that make me to think twice and almost make me laughing loudly because i think it was funny.
as we all know that our government had set our uniform schools to be like this ...
and you know what? my friend said she was a little embarrassed when her Korean friends asked her...
"are you guys from the same school? all of you wearing the same uniform..." OH MY... DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT MEANS? THAT WAS REALLY EMBARRASSING IF I WERE IN HER PLACE!!! DEFINITELY!!!
they might thought that all the students who represented Malaysia are from the same school because they wore the same type of uniforms. all blue and white... the only thing that shows our school's identity are our school badges that was affixed at the right chest of the cloth.
not like them in korea... each school brings their own uniforms which show their own identity...
the question is, why the government specify our uniform to be in one type for all high school in our country?
mmm, so, i concluded that malaysia need more improvement. but, let the way the Malaysian do... ^_^

This is an old post but I just happen found it.
ReplyDeleteI agree that Malaysia school uniform need some reformation. Malaysia had keep this kind of uniform for so long. school at my place had enforce neck tie to add identity and look better but still depend on student attitude that may ruined it.
But remember that Malaysia school uniform is design for tropical climate.
I don't agree if you want uniform like in Korea because out of four season, three of it is cold and breezy.. only summer season similar to Malaysia climax. But Malaysia is absolutely not a place for suit fancy people, it hot and we don't have air conditioner in class.
Second the price, one set Korean school uniform for male (suit, t-shirt, pants, tie, and belt) will cost RM 400 ringgit. Let say we Malaysia design a cheaper cost, thinner fabric suit, it still cost a lot and it will not look as we intend it to look when we enforce such uniform design.
In this world there is thing called puberty and uniform company will absolutely love it because it means you grows up and need new uniform.
Current uniform in Malaysia is cheaper because similar pattern thus massive production. If every school have their own design, it means smaller production size and cost more money.
anyway, my reply might be a bit late since i also happen to know about your comment this recently. the heading title is about the Koreans who asked our student, doesn't mean we need to change our school uniform like theirs. that's why i put there "malaysia need more improvement. but, let the way the Malaysian do... ^_^" at the end of the entry... based on my perception, there is a definitely difference school uniforms in our country which shows the differences between high rated schools and low rated schools. for example, MRSM brings their own design while other schools which is not as brilliant as MRSMs' students always wear the same uniforms. it shows like Malaysian students are divided based on their grades. it's kind of stereotyping...
